We take a proactive approach to user privacy and ensure the necessary steps are taken to protect the privacy of its users throughout their visiting experience. This website complies to all UK national laws and requirements for user privacy. If you have specific privacy concerns and queries not answered here, but contact us. You may also wish to follow the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) recommendations on how to raise a concern with an organisation.

What do you do with the data I submit in a review?

Your review is made up of three different parts - a series of questions relating to working life at your school, an optional comment and a short series of questions about your background.

We use the data from the questions to present a series of anonymised 'key area' scores for your school. We also make it possible to drill down into the data to see how many respondents gave a particular score for a particular question.

At no point is your review data displayed in isolation and we never attach any identifying information alongside question data.

Comments are an optional part of the review process. If you decide to leave a comment then we will display this on your school's profile page. The only additional information we list with a comment is the date it was published. Therefore as long as you do not write a comment that allows others to identify you, your comment remains anonymous.

Finally, we also collect a small amount of data about your background as a teacher. We do not display this anywhere on your school profile page. Instead we plan to use this data in an anonymous fashion to present statistics on a local, region and national level once we have enough reviews. You are of course free to opt out of answering these questions if you wish.

How long do you keep my information?

Your anonymous review may remain on the site unless you request to remove it. We will keep your personal information associated with this review unless you choose to delete your account. We also keep backup copies of your information.

Where is my data stored?

When you use Happy Teacher, any content you transmit will be stored on our servers, which are located in the United Kingdom. When you use the Happy Teacher on your computing device, content you save may be stored locally on that device and sync with our servers.

Please be aware that content submitted to Happy Teacher will be transferred to a data centre in the United Kingdom. If you post or transfer any information to or through our Happy Teacher, you are confirming your consent to such information, including personal information and your content, being hosted and accessed in the United Kingdom.

Data privacy laws or regulations in your home country may differ from those in the United Kingdom, but Happy Teacher complies with applicable law regarding the collection, use and retention of personal information collected from all our users.

How is my data secured?

Happy Teacher is committed to protecting the security of your information and takes reasonable precautions to protect it. However, Internet data transmissions, whether wired or wireless, cannot be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and as a result, we cannot ensure the security of information you transmit to us, including personal information and user content; accordingly, you acknowledge that you do so at your own risk.

We use industry standard encryption to protect your data in transit. This is commonly referred to as transport layer security ("TLS") or secure socket layer ("SSL") technology.

Once we receive your data, we protect it on our servers using a combination of administrative, physical and logical security safeguards. The security of the information stored locally in any of our Products installed on your computing device requires that you make use of the security features of your device. We recommend that you take the appropriate steps to secure all computing devices that you use with our applications and service.

If Happy Teacher learns of a security system breach, we may attempt to notify you and provide information on protective steps, if available, through the email address that you have provided to us or by posting a notice on the Site. Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to receive such notices in writing.

Do you use my data for marketing and sales purposes?

We will not make use of your personal information for any marketing or sales purposes. However, your anonymous reviews will be visible for others to see and we may use these to help publicise Happy Teacher.

Will you share my personal information with third parties?

We will not share, sell or provide any of your personal information to third parties for commercial purposes. We may cooperate in the future with educational institutions to analyse our data, but we will not share your emails.

Can I permanently delete my review or my Happy Teacher account?

If you opt to delete a review then this action is immediate and irreversible. Your review content is deleted immediately from our servers and your school's review scores are updated accordingly.

If you wish to delete your account you can do so from within your Happy Teacher account. There is a 'cooling off' period of 7 calendar days during which time your account is suspended but still exists on our servers. After this 7 day period your data (including all personal information and review content) will be permanently removed from our servers.

How will you use my email addresses?

Although we use your school email address and a personal email address to verify your review, these are not publicly associated with your review.

We only send one email to your school email address. This email simply contains a link that you use to prove you are the 'owner' of that email address and it contains no personal information or data on your review.

We use your personal email address to communicate about changes to your account, such as when you have updates a review, a reminder to update your review, or notification of a new feature on Happy Teacher.

How do you use Cookies?

This website uses cookies to better the user's experience while visiting the website. Where applicable this website uses a cookie control system allowing the user on their first visit to the website to allow or disallow the use of cookies on their computer / device. This complies with recent legislation requirements for websites to obtain explicit consent from users before leaving behind or reading files such as cookies on a user's computer / device.

Cookies are small files saved to the user's computer's hard drive that track, save and store information about the user's interactions and usage of the website. This allows the website, through its server, to provide the user with a tailored experience within this website.

Every effort has been made to ensure a safe and review completion process but we advise users using such form to email processes that they do so at their own risk.

This website and its owners use any information submitted to provide you with further information about the products / services they offer or to assist you in answering any questions or queries you may have submitted. This includes using your details to subscribe you to any email newsletter program the website operates but only if this was made clear to you and your express permission was granted when submitting any form to email process. Or whereby you the consumer have previously purchased from or enquired about purchasing from the company a product or service that the email newsletter relates to. This is by no means an entire list of your user rights in regard to receiving email marketing material. Your details are not passed on to any third parties.
